This tournament is for Wheelchair players ,NTRP players and OPEN players and will be held at the Cary Tennis Park. Event proceeds will go to benefit Bridge II Sports, a non-profit organization, creating opportunities for children and adults who are physically challenged to play team and individual sports by providing equipment, developing sport teams and coaching, thereby helping them discover tenacity, confidence, self-esteem and the joy of finding the player within. Western Wake Tennis Association will be organzing the NTRP and OPEN unsanctioned tournament. The Wheelchair tournament is a sanctioned tournament and registration is through USTA.

Each participant will recieve 2 tickets to the ACC Championship Men's and Women's Final Matches. The ACC Championships will be taking place at the Cary Tennis Park in adjacent courts during the Big Wheels Tournament. Each participant will also recieve a Free Snack Shack Coupon to use during the tournament.

Entry Information:

NOTE: Each person must register individually (each doubles team requires two completed entry forms).

WWTA reserves the right to combine NTRP levels where necessary.

Wheelchair Tennis

Recreational and Competitive Divisions There are several divisions that identify the levels of play in wheelchair tennis. Wheelchair tennis players play in able-bodied events with two bounces and can be rated according to NTRP characteristics.

OPEN: This player has had intensive training for tournament competition at the national and international levels. Excellent chair mobility.

A: This player has good shot anticipation and has developed power and/or consistency as a major weapon. Can vary strategies and styles of play in a competitive situation. Hits dependable shots in a stress situation. Solid chair mobility.

B: This player has begun to master the use of power and spins; is beginning to handle pace and vary game plan according to opponents. Good chair mobility.

C: This player has achieved improved stroke dependability with directional control on moderate shots, but lacks depth and variety. Learning consistent chair mobility.

D: This player is learning to judge where the ball is going although court coverage is weak. This player can sustain a short rally of slow pace with players of the same ability. Slow, inconsistent chair mobility.

When registering to the tournament, please make sure to provide your contact information(phone #’s and email address) as we would otherwise be unable to reach you when needed (registration issues, schedule changes, withdraws, weather issue,..) Draws will be posted on Western Wake Tennis web site.

Match Schedule

The tournament is expected to run over the weekend (Friday and Saturday) for most events. For events with more than 12 participants, play will start on Friday late afternoon (5pm or 6pm). Amenities for the Tournament Participants

Tournament players will receive 2 complementary tickets to the ACC Men and Women Championship Finals scheduled on Sunday. One complementary coupon from the Cary Tennis Park Café to be redeem on Saturday. One complementary gift with Big Wheel logo.

Event Draws Information and Match Formats

All singles Events will be Best of 3 TB sets. Regular scoring will be used in each event; a mandatory play-off match will determine 3rd and 4th places. All Doubles Events will be Best of 3TB sets with a match TB in lieu of a 3rd set. When signing up for a doubles event you MUST identify your doubles partner ( be sure that this person has entered in the tournament). The Tie-Breaker format will be the Coman format Be on time for your matches: Check in at tournament desk 15 min. BEFORE your scheduled match times and be ready to play. Penalties for lateness will be enforced.
