Scholarships Program

The WWTA Scholarship program supports our mission of promoting the game and spirit of tennis in Western Wake County. This program focuses on youth and supports the continued growth in skills for those showing dedication and promise (although this is not a skills based award) and at the same recognizes the applicants’ community involvement and volunteerism.

Tennis camp scholarships are awarded to elementary, middle, and high school students. Academic scholarships for graduating high school seniors are granted toward their first year of college. Underprivileged, at-risk, and special circumstance children are considered as well.  When selecting the scholarship that you are applying for, your rising grade will determine the scholarship.  A current 5th grader will apply for a middle school scholarship since they are considered a rising 6th grader for the summer that their scholarship would be awarded.  All receipts for scholarships have to be submitted by December 15th for reimbursement.  College scholarship information (finanical aid department and student identification number) needs to be provided prior to the fall term of the year awarded.  Also, due to NCAA rules and regulations, we are unable to award scholarships to students who will be playing a varsity sport at college during their first year.

The awards are:

Davis Davenport Memorial Elementary School Tennis Camp
Two $250 grants
Todd Garcia Family Dentistry Middle School Tennis Camp  Two $250 grants
Teradata Cares High School Tennis Camp Two $500 grants
High School Senior College  Two $1000 grants

Applications for WWTA's 2016 scholarship program are available now and the deadline is April 22, 2016.  Click on the link above to download the application for each award.  By submitting an application for a scholarship, you agree to allow Western Wake Tennis Association (WWTA) to use, separately or together with others, your name, picture likeness and/or video and/or biographical materials, on the official WWTA website, and for the promotion of scholarship announcements to local media and through WWTA media (includes but not limited to website, eblasts, Facebook, and Twitter).

There are multiple scholarship and grant opportunties for youth and college students through USTA North Carolina and USTA Southern Patrons.  Deadlines are typically earlier in the year than our WWTA Scholarships.
